VCU Celebrates 120 Years of Nursing Excellence
The VCU School of Nursing 120 Visionary Leaders
As part of celebrating its 120th anniversary, the VCU Virginia School of Nursing recognized 120 alumni and faculty members, both living and deceased, as Visionary Leaders.
The honorees are graduates or current/past faculty members of the VCU, Medical College of Virginia, St. Philip, or Richmond Professional Institute schools of nursing.
They were selected based on the following:
- Distinctive service in the field of nursing and health care on the local, state, national and/or international level(s) in clinical practice, education or scholarship/research.
- Recognition by colleagues and peers for outstanding achievement.
- Demonstration of leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The School of Nursing hosted a gala on May 30 at the Jefferson Hotel to celebrate the school’s 120th anniversary, 120 visionary leaders, Dr. Nancy Langston’s 22 years of leadership as dean, and the appointment of Dr. Jean Giddens as the new dean.
