Stigma intervention with nurses and other clinic staff in the Eastern Cape, SA
Principal Investigator: Dr. Martha Moon


Specific Aims:
Goal: To increase utilization of HIV testing and care in the Eastern Cape Province by decreasing HIV/AIDS
stigma and discrimination through interventions with staff at HIV/AIDS clinics.

  1. To compare the effects of an intervention with clinic staff on the level of stigma and
    perceived discrimination among staff and clients at intervention and control sites.
  2. To compare the effects of an intervention with clinic staff on the number of client visits
    and the number of HIV tests reported at the intervention and control sites.
  3. To assess reliability and validity of stigma instruments in patients and clinic staff.
