The purpose of this study is two-fold: (a) to examine the development of a mother’s internal working model (IWM) of feeding, and (b) to examine maternal and infant behavioral and physiological regulation during feeding at two time points -- when nipple feeding begins for the preterm infant and at two weeks after the infant’s discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit.
