High Risk Infants and Families

The School of Nursing faculty conducts programs of research that promote the optimal development of the preterm and other high-risk infants and children based on a model of resilience. This interest area focuses on the interdisciplinary investigation of the care-giving environment, nursing care and behavioral and developmental outcomes of at-risk children. Of particular interest is the study of the relationships among the biobehavioral indicators and outcomes, and the design and testing of environmental and care-giving interventions.

Current Faculty Research

  • bottle-feeding readiness in preterm infants
  • maternal role attainment and relationship to feeding outcomes
  • achievement of feeding outcomes in the growing infant
  • feeding experiences and developmental milestone achievements
