Overview

Ms. Hills was in the second class admitted to the VCU School of Nursing's Accelerated Second Degree Program in 1994. She received her first baccaulerate degree in Secondary Education from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Since receiving her Master's of Science in 1998, Ms. Hills has practiced as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She volunteered and worked under a grant at the Irwin Gammon Craig Health Center on the St. Joseph's Villa campus here in Richmond serving the campus residents as well as uninsured patients from the community. She also provided obstetric care to patients at the Henrico County Health Department for one year. Prior to her current collateral faculty position, Ms. Hills served as adjunct faculty at the VCU School of Nursing. She currently practices as a volunteer at the Fan Free Clinic where she provides additional training for students taking women's health practica.

Teaching Areas
Ms. Hills is Clinical Coordinator for the graduate women's health practica taken by students in the child health, adult health, family health and women's health nurse practitioner tracks. In addition, she teaches Nurs 633, Common Health Problems of Women, which focuses on gynecologic problems nurse practitioners encounter as providers of health care to women such as abnormal pap smear management, sexually-transmitted diseases, unintended pregnancy management, menstrual, pelvic and breast disorders, contraceptive management, menopause, and osteoporosis. Psychosocial issues such as domestic violence against women, women with disabilities, and eating disorders are also included in this course.
