Overview

Dr. Stephanie L. Ferguson received her baccalaureate nursing degree in 1985 from the University of Virginia, School of Nursing in Charlottesville, Virginia. She received her master’s in nursing degree in 1987 from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She received her PhD in nursing from the University of Virginia in 1996 with a focus in health policy, community psychology, and multicultural education.

As a seasoned academician, nurse executive, and international health care consultant, Dr. Ferguson has worked with many health care organizations to change and enhance better quality services for populations and she has served as a leader on several prestigious boards and committees and received numerous honors for her professional activities. She is a prolific writer and researcher in nursing, health care and health policy and the former editor of several nursing journals. She also has an excellent track record in fundraising for various activities where she has received considerable funds to achieve work proposed with foundations and other organizations and individuals.

Dr. Ferguson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and an active member of the American Nurses Association, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, and Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academies of Practice.

In the Community Nursing Organization she is working to decrease health disparities and enhance health equity with adolescents in the metropolitan Richmond area.
