NCC: National Certification Corporation
For those seeking certification
as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner from the National Certification Corporation
for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties:
Complete an
application for NCC.
Go onto the NCC site to be sure you are
following the correct guidelines to apply for this exam. Guidelines can be
found in the certification catalog. To obtain a catalog, call the National
Certification Corporation at (312) 951-0207 or visit their web site for an online
catalog. The online catalog is called Nurse Practitioner Registration
Catalog. In the catalog, you will find directions to apply, an application,
testing dates, and fees. Other information of interest may be found on their
site at www.nccnet.org.
Complete an
on-line request form for the Family and Community Health Nursing Department.
After your have reviewed the application process from NCC, the next thing
you want to do is fill out the Family and Community Health Nursing
Department on-line request form in order to receive your Form 1 and Documentation of Education Preparation to include in your application packet to NCC. This form will be mailed to you a few days after you graduate from the School of Nursing.
Transcripts
After you have graduated, you will need to obtain an official copy
of your transcript and mail the to NCC with your application. Please note
that each student is responsible for obtaining their own transcripts.
NCC
will not keep incomplete applications.
What this means is that
you must mail in a completed application with all fees and necessary forms
all at once. If they receive an incomplete application, it will be sent back
to you. Steps for applying are in their NP registration catalog. Don't forget
to retain a copy of everything you send to NCC for your personal records!
For the Virginia
State Board of Nursing, the department chair will send them
a letter letting them know you have officially graduated. Don't forget in
addition to applying to NCC, its your responsibility to obtain a state license
in order to practice! Directions for this are found at the Virginia State
