prepares graduates for advanced practice in the care of children. Graduates
qualify to sit for the certification as pediatric nurse practitioners and
may take an examination from either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board
or the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Our child health graduates continue
to have a 100% pass rate on the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. This
is 3 years in a row at 100% and a 10 year average of 97 percent!
Nurses gain knowledge
in health promotion, disease prevention, and common health alterations
of children in primary care, ambulatory care, and acute care settings.
Clinical experiences are tailored to meet students needs for advanced
practice preparation. Students will typically be placed in a series of
individually precepted clinical experiences. Experienced practitioners
work collaboratively with the nursing faculty to provide a diverse range
of clinical learning opportunities.
Select students
have the opportunity to apply for an additional semester's work that focuses
on promoting the health of children with disabilities. Students who enroll
will gain competencies in interdisciplinary studies in developmental disabilities.
Tuition and stipends are available for the additional semester of study. Partnership
