Technology: Typhon

Students in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs are evaluated on the skills that they use in the clinical setting as well as their skills in the classroom. Students can expect to be evaluated by their preceptors, clinical faculty and course instructors. The Typhon Administrator will send login and password information to you the first day of class.

Clinical tracking

One of the tools we use for the evaluation of clinical skills and content is Typhon. The Typhon system for undergraduates is called the Nursing School Student Tracking System and the Typhon system for graduate nursing students is called the Nurse Practitioner Student Tracking system. Both systems allow faculty and program directors to follow the progress of each student in their clinical experiences. The initial price for the system is $50 for undergraduate students and $75 for graduate students. This fee covers the complete tenure of the nursing student. Additionally, students may access their portfolios three years post-graduation.

  • If you have forgotten your user name or password, please go to the URL above, click the link for the proper database and click the "forgot password" link. Your user name and password will be emailed to you.
  • This information sheet details how faculty/preceptors approve time logs, view schedules and complete surveys. If you are a faculty/preceptor and need to have your password reset, please email the Typhon Administrator.

Surveys

Students will be asked to fill out surveys evaluating their experiences, preceptors and clinical sites. This information is compiled in order to provide the best possible clinical experience for our students.

Preceptors/faculty logging in to complete an evaluation, update their record, approve time logs or view student case logs where you are the preceptor should log in to the Typhon system using these links:

Viewing clinical comments

In order to view the comments made by your instructor, click Daily/Weekly Case List from the Typhon main menu under Case Log Reports.
