Education

Technology: mobile

Mobile technology is ubiquitious. Whether you are a faculty member using your mobile device to access your email or a student looking for the generic name for a drug at the bedside, you are likely carrying a mobile device.

Graduate clinical requirements

Students in the graduate clincial program at the School of Nursing are required to have a mobile device as stated in policy 6.15 in the School of Nursing Policy and Information Handbook. We recommend the purchase of an iPod Touch or iOS compatible device to use for your clinical experience.

You can purchase an iPod Touch through the VCU getIT program. Click the Shop now button on the Apple getIT page and you will be taken to the Apple Store for Education. The Touch is also available online or from a variety of stores. The smallest size is adequate to use for your clinical experience. You may want to consider a larger Touch if you wish to include your iTunes library or download videos.

To assist graduate nursing students in the purchase of software applications, VCU School of Nursing has partnered with software vendor Skyscape to create a custom VCU Nursing Skyscape web page. This page contains links to the products you will need as a graduate nursing student in addition to a 25% discount price.
