The Association of Administrative Professionals is a pro-active organization committed to the personal and professional growth of its members, the enhancement of community relationships, the support of the lifelong learning environment and assisting faculty with the facilitation of teaching, research and service within the mission of the School of Nursing

MEMBERSHIP
All administrative professionals employed by the VCU School of Nursing are required to participate in the business-related activities of this organization and are encouraged to participate in all other activities.

MEETINGS
The Association of Administrative Professionals meets regularly on a monthly basis. Special meetings of this organization may be called at the request of one-third of the membership or when deemed necessary by the Chair.

QUORUM
The Association of Administrative Professionals may engage in conversation without the presence of a quorum; however, it is a requirement that a quorum be present in order to conduct business. A quorum will consist of those individuals present at the meeting.

YEARLY DONATIONS
The administrative professionals participating in this organization are requested to contribute an annual donation to the treasury in order to provide for special needs (gifts, memorials, etc.). The amount of the donation will be determined annually at the March meeting

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The election of officers is scheduled at the annual March meeting. Nominations for the Chair-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer are forwarded to the Chair via e-mail prior to the March meeting. The newly elected officers assume their respective appointed duties effective at the July retreat. The Chair-elect automatically assumes the role of Chair the following year.

TERMS OF OFFICE
Each officer (Executive Board) of the Association of Administrative Professionals serves a one-year term, with the exception of the Chair-Elect, who serves a two-year term; one year as Chair-Elect and one year as Chair. The Secretary and Treasurer are eligible for re-election for a maximum of two years.

OFFICERS (EXECUTIVE BOARD)
This organization elects four officers:

Chair: The Chair presides over all meetings of the Association of Administrative Professionals. This person also meets with the Dean of the School of Nursing every other month to keep him/her informed of the business at hand. The Chair represents this Association at the Executive Committee and has voting privileges at the committee meetings.

Chair-Elect: The Chair-Elect presides over all meetings of the Association of
Administrative Professionals in the absence of the Chair. This individual
also meets with the Chair and the Dean of the School of Nursing every
other month to keep him/her informed of the business at hand. The Chair
elect will represent the Association at the meetings of the Steering
Committee and Faculty Assembly and has voting privileges on both
committees.

Secretary: The Secretary of the Association for Administrative Professionals is responsible for taking all minutes and retaining records of this organization. The minutes are distributed to all members of this organization via e-mail for approval. Following approval of the minutes, they are posted on the School of Nursing Blackboard.

Treasurer: The Treasurer of the Association of Administrative Professionals is
responsible for maintaining all financial records, collecting yearly
donations and any special contributions. The Treasurer’s report is
appended to the minutes for distribution to the members of this
organization.

Note: For positions in which there are no nominations, an officer will be selected from a pool of those administrative professionals who have not served during the last three years.
